As the world’s largest environmental movement, Earth Day (22/4/24) is an annual event that gives everyone the chance to focus on protecting our planet’s natural resources. With a continuing climate crisis and insufficient funding for green initiatives, any chance to shine a light on the state of the environment should be utilised to the fullest.
For UK businesses, compliance with these regulations isn't just a legal obligation: it’s a moral necessity. A staggering 84% of employees are concerned about climate change, and 70% of Gen Z workers are more likely to opt for an employer with a strong green footprint. What’s more, 30% of people have left a company due to its lack of a corporate sustainability agenda.
Your organisation’s eco credentials should go beyond standard box-ticking – especially if you want to attract and retain top talent. Businesses need to provide solutions that help to reduce their carbon footprint, protect natural resources, and motivate staff to leave the planet in a more fruitful state for future generations.
From encouraging recycling in the office to investing in renewable energy sources, there are many ways to improve sustainability across your organisation. But did you know that your employee benefits can also support your green goals?
Here at Vivup, we offer ways to help you supercharge your sustainability initiatives and reduce your environmental impact:
Cycle to Work
In their 2024 Action Toolkit, Earthday.org recommends that businesses “support environmentally friendly commuting options such as bike incentives, reducing carbon emissions, and promoting employee wellbeing.”
Our Cycle to Work benefit enables your people to save up to 42%* on the latest bikes, high-vis clothing, and safety equipment for their journey to and from work. Plus, they’ll also benefit from even more savings on fuel, parking, or public transportation costs. Perfect for enjoying a more sustainable commute for both the planet – and their pocket.
Car Benefit
With our Car benefit, your staff can drive a brand-new, fully insured, and maintained car for a fixed monthly amount - with no deposit required. If they commit to making the switch to an electric vehicle from a huge choice of makes and models, they could also benefit even more from tax and National Insurance savings.
This not only helps your organisation do its bit for the planet, but also enables your people to access reliable electric cars that don’t cost the earth.
Home and Electronics
Home and Electronics gives staff the option to spread the cost on 1000s of items fulfilled by Currys and John Lewis & Partners straight from their salary. This includes a wide range of energy-efficient items that will help to bring down their bills – such as smart home lighting and heating products, fridge freezers, and washing machines.*
Small Steps – Big Impact
We understand that it can be difficult to see how small steps contribute to the bigger picture. Here are some of our sustainability stats to help you visualise that big picture a bit better:
This year, we’ve made a difference to our people, communities, and the environment by:
- Saving 4,903,926 kg CO2e of emissions through our Cycle to Work scheme*
- Saving 9,106,030 kg CO2e of emissions via electric cars leased through our Car benefit*
The total emissions saved in 2023 (14,009,957 kg CO2e) is equivalent to:
- 1,730 households
- 59,872 return flights from London to Rome
- 560,398 trees capturing carbon
